Definitions:

Calibration: The process of comparing measuring equipment or measurement standards with specified tolerances but of unknown accuracy to a controlled measurement system of specified capability, accuracy and traceability. The result of calibrations is to detect, correlate, or minimize by adjustment, all deviations from the specified tolerance limits. Calibration does not include a report or certification.

Certification: A document that reports calibration results, including acquired data, and all pertinent information relevant to the calibration.

Verification: A conformation by examination with supporting evidence that specified requirements have been met. Verification provides a means for inspecting the deviations between values indicated by the measuring equipment and the corresponding known values are consistently smaller than the maximum allowable error defined in a standard.
