LC215K - High Speed Turning

Boehlerit is committed to helping our customers maximize their profitability. The new "Steeltec" LC215K boasts a 30% improvement in tool life and a marked increase in cutting speeds. This new innovative turning grade is equipped with an extremely hard and heat-resistant AL2O3 coating. The unique yellow ceramic layer is of particular practical relevance. With it, insert wear can be recognized immediately at a glance. The heat dissipating capabilities of the "Drytec" surface improves dynamic machining and makes dry turning possible.

More than 200 different indexable turning inserts in the "Steeltec" LC216K series guarantee up to 30% improvement in tool life in the ISO P15 range, along with significant easier recognition wear.

HPT Turning Inserts

With its new HPT (High Performance Turning) geometry, Boehlerit is again increasing productivity for its customers. When compared to standard ISO turning inserts, up to 300% higher feeds or, with the same feeds, up to 75& better surface finishes can now be achieved. The HPT indexable carbide insert include our "Drytec" heat dissipation panels thus permitting economic dry machining. State-of-the-art cutting materials such as innovative "Steeltec" LC215K, LC255C, and Casttec LC620H enable a wide range of materials form steel to cast iron to be processed.

LC225K - High Performance P25 Turning Grade

The new universal turning grade with its 30% longer edge life trumps the conventional  P25 grades and provides significant higher cutting speeds in a wide range of different steels.

This big advance in quality was made possible by using a carbide substrate with  very tough gradient and an extremely hard, heat-resistant AL2O3 coating. After long, consistent tool life, discoloration of the tool's exceptionally smooth yellow ceramic coating gives clear warning that a change is necessary.

The LC225K "Steeltec" Universal turning grade is complimented by the extremely wear resistant LC215K "Steeltec" turning grade for use in the ISO P15 range at cutting speeds of over 900sfm in steel materials. "Drytec's" heat conducting surfaces also enable dry-turning operations at optimized speeds and feeds.

The broad range of ISA turning inserts in the new LC225K "Steeltec" Universal turning grade series will be launched in September 2006.

Pentatec - Multi-Functional Tool

The universal Pentatec® muti-functional tool reduces operations required for steel and aluminum work pieces and thus reduces processing times by at least 25%.

By expanding the Pentatec multi-functional tool, Boehlerit can now help reduce costs on an even wider range of materials. Operations ranging from drilling into solid blocks (even off-center), I.D Boring, Facing, O.D Turning, and Countersinking can also now be done in austenitic stainless steels using LC444W and to cast iron materials using LC630T.

This successful tool has been complimented by the Pentatec Mini (Dia 6mm) whose innovative laser chip breaker ensures reliable chip breaking even in the case of light feed rates.

The entire Pentatec® too range (from Dia 6mm to Dia 33mm) reduces processing times and therefore saves costs in all the materials involved (steel, stainless steel,  cast iron, and aluminum). In the area of turning, boring, drilling, and countersinking, it can replace a range of conventional ISO tools.

Multi-Edge 4X Inserts

Higher roughing output with smooth  surface finishes - that sums up the convincing benefits offered by this new development. One look at the cutting geometry of the new generation of "MultiEdge 4X" cutters is enough to make one realize the high degree of performance they can provide. Each Indexable insert has four cutting edges that yield good chip breaking characteristics and the following key benefits:

 - Reduced cutting forces and consequently, less power consumption
 - Increased insert life and higher feed rates
 - Excellent surface finishes
 - Reduced risk of vibration during the cutting process and efficient chip removal

The Indexable inserts are precision-sintered, can be indexed four times, and can be inserted into standard FCT 45 bodies form 2" diameter and up. For very large cutting diameters of up to 20", the well=known Multi-Mill cartridge-style milling system is recommended.

Another feature of the "MultiEdge 4X" is its "MultiC" double coating. The "QN" coating contains a combination of ALCrN and TiN and yields enhanced results in steel machining operations, whereas the "T" coating features TiALN, increasing performances in machining of cast materials

In long reach applications, where poor clamping creates instability, a "MultiEdge 4X" insert and a round insert can be inserted alternately into the cutter body (preferably when the numbers of teeth are even) to yield the following advantages:

 - Double the feed rate than when the cutter is operating with a round insert only
 - Significant reduces vibration
